Empordoneses is a project that starts in 2010 and wants to give voice and create a community of female artists in Empordà. Now it embraces all artistic and visual disciplines, and it is a meeting point between artists and public.
Due to the lockdown in march 2020, we were asked to briefly explain how this particular time has been creativity-wise.
We got the chance to have a little talk with journalist and communicator Glòria Montasell about the creative process of the “Sound Portraits”, the custom music we compose on commission.
We are very grateful to Glòria and her sensibility towards our work. At the end of the interview there’s a fragment of the piece we composed for her.
Bridal Fashion Firm Otaduy asked for original music for their new collection “Inspiration” 2020 fashion film.

Last year, artist Fiona Morrison asked us to compose a soundtrack for footage she had made during a trip through North America. The piece, Once Upon a Territory, is an “on route” filming from East to west North America, and West to East Canada, showing all the names of Native American Territories, as a deep homage to Native American Indian people and their land.
Video was part of El Joc, exhibition at Fundació Valvi in Girona (Catalonia, Spain).
We got some inspiration from tribal melodies but from an electronic sound perspective.
“Zen, simple and minimal” were the premises given to creat this music for the video opening of speaker Sergi Torres’conferences. Moving logo already made and a web home image that summarized the feelings they were looking for in the music as well:

We decided to use an instrumentation as simple and clean as possible: acompanning oval and a melodic instrument playing the melody, clarinet in this case.
A principis d’estiu ens vem presentar a la “1ª Edició dels Premis Música i Infància” de composició de cançó infantil, on vem quedar entre els 10 finalistes triats entre les 130 cançons que es van presentar amb el tema “Cançons per estar feliç”.
La nostra composició es diu UN SOMRIURE, i està dedicada a la mestra d’infantil Pilar Torner, que ens va engrescar a començar a escriure cançons amb lletra dirigides als infants.

Recientemente hemos colaborado con Mercedes Werner en un proyecto que no sólo suma sus partes, sino que las multiplica. La artista nos pidió que pusiéramos música a sus fotografías en blanco y negro. Después de verlas quedamos impresionadas por ese chiaroscuro que lo impregna todo y decidimos darle una vuelta de tuerca a una de las formas musicales más conocidas del período barroco que ha llegado hasta nuestros días: la passacaglia.
Aquí quedan plasmados los cuadros que ahora son fotografía y la música antes acústica y ahora electrónica:

With all those noises we composed latin jazz ground, adding piano, trumpet and doublebass at the recording studio. This video of the making of shows the creative process and part of the final result. The whole show for gourmets to enjoy at Spoonik!

Last june we attended the first meeting of “ViGiLIA” (videogames of Girona). We could present our music to our colleagues. There were developers, artists, programmers and we could knowledge the latest news and projects.
That was the first of hopefully many more to come, so everyone is informed and there is total communication and ideas shared between all of us.

We have a new instrument! Some time ago we contributed to Kickstarter campaign of OvalSound, a project that was developing an electronic handpan. It’s a MIDI controller as well, with a huge amount of sounds and functions. New sounds, new inspiration and the possibility to play it live.
